About

The MedSEVa project was born from the urgent need to connect academic research with real-world applications in sustainability, conservation, and green entrepreneurship across the Mediterranean. This region, known for its rich biodiversity and cultural heritage, faces growing threats from climate change, overexploitation, and biodiversity loss.

At the same time, Traditional Ecological Knowledge (TEK)—centuries-old wisdom about local ecosystems, biodiversity management, and sustainable resource use—is at risk of disappearing. Without active preservation and integration into modern conservation and economic practices, valuable ecological insights could be lost.

Project Goals

The MedSEVa project bridges the gap between academic knowledge and real-world applications in sustainability, biodiversity conservation, and green entrepreneurship
across the Mediterranean. MedSEVa tackles these challenges by empowering Higher Education (HE) students with the tools, knowledge, and entrepreneurial skills to:

  • Develop sustainable businesses that align with Mediterranean bushlands and maquis ecosystems
  • Bridge the gap between academia and the labor market
  • Promote the integration of underutilized plant species; minor crops into sustainable agriculture
  • Preserve and apply Traditional Ecological Knowledge (TEK) in modern conservation strategies

Aligned with European sustainability priorities, MedSEVa drives environmental protection, climate adaptation, and entrepreneurship, preparing students for impactful careers in  sustainability-focused sectors.
